As per the latest data by World Federation of Exchanges, National Stock Exchange (NSE) has regained its position as the world’s largest bourse in terms of volume in equity trade in June 2013.

Santosh Lal, the member of Jharkhand Ranji Sqad and the inventor of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s (Captain Indian Cricket Team) signature shot, Helicopter Shot died on 17 July 2013 at a hospital in New Delhi. The 32 year old Santosh was being treated for pancreatitis. He is now survived by his parents, a wife and a 3-year old daughter. 

The HRD Ministry on 18 July 2013 announced setting up a new committee to look into the quality aspect of the Mid Day Meal Scheme nationwide.The decision was taken by the Ministry while responding to the queries of the media on death of children in Bihar after taking Mid Day Meal in schools.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on 17 July 2013 opened a special liquidity window for commercial banks to meet the cash requirements of mutual funds (MFs). The special liquidity window was opened taken into concern the Mutual Funds which faced heavy redemption pressure in debt-oriented MF schemes following a series of steps taken by the RBI to shore up the faltering currency. Keeping all this into consideration the RBI opened a special three-day repo window that will allow banks to borrow a total of 25000 crore Rupees at a rate of 10.25%. Banks can borrow this money to lend onwards to MFs. 

Sula Vineyard, which is the largest wine producer of India, decided to make its mark in the wine market of Sikkim. The wines by Sula Vineyard are distributed by Overall Traders, which is the largest distributer of Sikkim. The Sula wines will be available at the leading retail outlets, hotels as well as restaurants of India.

The Government of Kerala gave its nod for tapping unfermented sap or neera from the coconut all over the state. Neera, which is also called sweet toddy, is the non-alcoholic drink which is extracted from immature inflorescence of coconut. The decision was taken by the Kerala Government at the meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. This decision would prove to be very beneficial for depressing coconut sector.
